East-West

The East-West committee consists of Lennert Gesterkamp and Martin Roos. The committee organises activities around the theme of interactions between art from Asia and that from the West, especially the Netherlands. We organise visits to the collections of Asian art in the castles and estates of the Netherlands, we visit exhibitions or organise lectures by scientist and specialists on the subject.  Recent activities were for example the visit to castle Twickel in Delden and a guided tour by the organisers of the exhibition  Barbaren en Wijsgeren: Het beeld van China in de Gouden Eeuw in the Frans Hals Museum. In the coming months we plan to visit Kasteel Keukenhof and to show the movie In het spoor van Van Gulik and a discussion of the director and family of this renown sinologist, writer and collector.
