Lectures Fries Museum/Princessehof in Leeuwarden

On Saturday 17 June we invite you to a dual lecture in Leeuwarden. Ferry Bertholet will talk about Chinese erotic art in relation to the exhibition 'Sexy Ceramics' that is currently on view in the Princessehof. The second lecture, 'Chintz, cotton in bloom' will be given by curator Gieneke Arnolli and is related to the exhibition 'Chintz' in the Fries Museum.

Lectures ‘Porcelain for the Forbidden City’ and ‘Chinese glass’ in Delft

In collaboration with the Archeological Institute, the Museum Prinsenhof Delft presents from 8 April onwards the exhibition 'Porcelain for the Forbidden City'. In her lecture 'Made for the Emperor- Treasures from Jingdezhen' curator Suzanne Klüver will talk about the backgrounds of the exhibition. The topic of the second lecture is Chinese glass. Dr. Xue Lu, Associate Professor of the Shanghai Institute of Visual Art and researcher of the Shanghai Museum of Glass will relate more about this interesting subject.

Open day ‘Imperial Porcelain and Scholar’s Objects from the 16th-19th centuries’

On 20 May Feng-Chun Ma and Paul Ruitenbeek of Feng-Chun Ma Chinese and Japanese Art Consultancy cordially invite the members of the Asian Art Society for an exclusive visit to their selling exhibition 'Imperial Porcelain and Scholar's Objects', which will be open from 15 until 25 May. All objects included in this exhibition come from Dutch Private collections.

General Meeting and lecture ‘Japanese screen from the Collection of the Asian Art Society’

On 22 April the Asian Art Society will hold its General Meeting. The board will present their views on 2016 and we will look forward to 2017 and the jubilee year 2018. Webmaster Alice Rijkels will speak about the new website. After the meeting there is a short break, after which Lucien van Valen and Menno Fitski will give a lecture about a recently restored Japanese screen from the collection of the Asian Art Society (AK-MAK-171).
