India and the Netherlands: A seminar by the Royal Asian Art Society in the Netherlands and the Embassy of India hosted by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam

The seminar ‘India and the Netherlands’ is jointly organised by the Royal Asian Art Society in the Netherlands and the Embassy of India. It is a great honour that His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will attend part of the seminar prior to the state visit to India in October.

Young Scholars’ Symposium in Asian Art

The Royal Society of Asian Art in the Netherlands (Koninklijke Vereniging van Vrienden der Aziatische Kunst, KVVAK) organizes the Young Scholars’ Symposium in Asian Art on 22 June 2019. At this symposium BA and MA students and PhD candidates will present their work on any aspect of Asian art and the art and material culture of exchange between Asia and Europe. The symposium is held at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the home of the KVVAK’s collection.

Guided tour ‘Indisch Palet’ Westfries Museum, Hoorn by the collectors Rob Colauto and Yvonne van Peperstraten

The Westfries Museum in Hoorn hosts the exhibition "Indisch Palet" from 10 February 2019 until 9 June. This exhibition comprises forty paintings by renown artists who were inspired by the nature, culture and people of the Indonesian archipelago. These works are loaned by the collectors couple Rob Colauto and Yvonne van Peperstraten.

General Meeting and lecture Professor Willem Gerritsen

On Saturday 30 March the Royal Asian Art Society will hold its General Meeting, traditionally followed by an interesting lecture. The board will present their views on 2018 and we will discuss the coming year.  Afterwards, Professor Willem Gerritsen will hold a lecture about Maartje Draak and her collection of Asian art. The lecture will be in Dutch.
