Curator’s lecture by Anna Slaczka – A South-Indian fragment of a column from the collection of the VVAK
Dr Anna Slaczka, curator of South-Asian art in the Rijksmuseum, will hold this year’s curator’s lecture. She will talk about a South-Indian column that belongs to the collection fo the VVAK. In 1955 the VVAK bought the column from the French dealer Moreau Gobard. The piece is decorated in relief with a garland and dwarfs and is attributed to Andra Pradesh, 250-300 AD. It is interesting to reconsider this important object from the collection. Where are the column’s origins? Where does it belong to? Where is the rest of the column? Anna Slaczka has been researching this object over the past years and will present her research in this lecture.
